Matt and I had a chance to catch up with James Gentes this weekend, to talk about what he’ll be covering in the “Social Network Trends” talk tomorrow. It was immediately clear that this wasn’t going to be some fluffy talk about how you too can Twitter with Oprah, so don’t let the title fool you. James has a keen insight into how Social Networks affect businesses and the risks and rewards involved in cultivating an online community around products and brand. The exact agenda is TBD, but I expect James will be presenting some concrete examples and data on the impact social networks can have (both positive and negative), as well as discussing the specific strategies and tools needed to socially-enable your business.
Thus, I find myself urging everyone to make an effort to attend this one. If you work for a business or have a client that’s looking at social networks and scratching their head a bit, this could prove to be a “must see” evening. Actually, scratch that – let’s call it a “must participate” evening, because the more people we can get involved in the discussion the better. It’s free, no registration required. Just show up (or risk becoming the next Domino’s video!
)
Rhett and I are planning to make this one, see you there!
