May Tech Talk – “Social Networking”

Hey, it’s time for our monthly tech talk!  And, yes, we’re temporarily crossing out the ‘tech’ part of things.  This time around our speaker, James Gentes, will be taking things in a decidedly more business-y, marketing-y (dare I say, “hip-y”) direction and talk about Social Network Trends and how these impact businesses.  In his own words:

Social media has quickly changed the way that businesses engage with customers. As companies rush to ‘fish where the fish are,’ thousands of new Mobile-Social-Commerce (MoCoSo) applications are appearing, along with detailed marketing strategies for Facebook, Twitter, Bebo, Myspace, and so on. This TechTalk will discuss these trends, along with other business approaches for ‘engaging the crowd’ and managing brand perception.

James is VP of SourceN Ventures, a mobile social commerce incubator and web 2.0 development partner. Previously, he has been in product management at startups and large enterprises in the SF bay area.

When: Tuesday, May 12, 2009 5:30 PM

Where:
Cascades Hall, COCC – Room #103

2400 NW College Way
Bend, OR, 97701

As before, RSVP’s on the meetup page are appreciated, but not required.
