There’s enough stuff in the BendTech hopper that it’s getting a little hard to stay on top of – kind of like an octopus riding a robot.
Umm… okay, it’s not at all like that but I needed a picture for a post that is just a quick spew of some mind-clutter. “Rise of the Red Star”, by Brian Despain, is delightfully quirky, so that’s what you get today.
Welcome, James
I’m very pleased to have added James Gentes to our roster of authors. James is the VP over at SourceN, and comes to us from the Bay Area, with a background in product management. Keep an eye out for posts from him on the social web, startups and local business. Good stuff!
Site News
‘Been fiddling with the site lately. We’re trying out the new antispam plugin from TypePad as a replacement for Akismet. Akismet was pretty darn good, but TypePad is free, and we’re hoping it’ll avoid the occasional false-positive that we’ve spotted with Akismet.
In other news, we’ve still have registrations disabled. Let us know if you know of a good solution to WordPress registration spam… or just want a bendtech account.
“Coming soon …”
Here are a few of the things we’ve got in the hopper:
- Our first podcast – a round-table chat between Forrest Rodgers, Matt, and I
- Our first Video-cast – from Chris Kraybill’s talk on Facebook integration (this one is starting to get embarrassingly dusty)
- A post with some ideas on how to improve the Bend City Council’s website
- Yet another Bend Bulletin post, where I put on my “If I were in charge hat” and hand-wave a vision for their future
If any of these things sound particularly interesting, let us know in the comments – it’ll help motivate us to push this stuff out.
