About the BendTech Book Club
Why
The purpose of the BendTech Book Club is to leverage books, online videos, and/or any set of ideas we can get our hands on to stimulate personal, professional, and technology industry growth in Bend.
What
Although we’re calling ourselves a “book club,” we have a more open approach to thinking about the medium through which we focus our discussion. We do focus on actual books but use online videos, and looser sets of ideas to focus discussion.
The optimal “book club” discussion is one having multiple means for getting up to speed on the content under discussion at the meeting. The topics of discussion are most often discussed in a book but there may also be online videos which get at the essential content.
We’re interested in Technology and Business. The content we discuss ranges from more tech topics to business issues important for any business.
Who
Anyone with an interest in the nexus of Business/Technology is welcome regardless of specific technical expertise. The point is that we learn something from each other as we discuss some specific book or set of ideas. We will attempt to stay on topic track.
The Book Club encourages it’s members to moderate the discussion of books and ideas they’re interested in.
When
The 1st Tuesday of each month beginning at 5:30pm. If it’s the first Tuesday of the month in Bend, it’s BendTech Book Club night. (See the BendTech meetup.com site for details.)
Where
Times and locations for all events will be provided on the BendTech meetup.com site. We currently enjoy and appreciate the support of Terry, of Dudley’s Bookshop on Minnesota, in letting us hold the Book Club meetings in the upstairs area of her store. We make it a point to thank Terry for her support by purchasing something from the store before or after the meeting.
